Who We Are? The 48 Hour Film Project!
Nice to meet you! Let’s get to know each other.
The 48 Hour Film Project is:
- the largest filmmaking competition in the world
- a community of thousands of filmmaking creatives
- a perfect way to grow your network and portfolio
- a launching pad for careers in the film industry
- a creative outlet for movie fans and filmmakers
Inspiring Filmmakers
We’ve been inspiring filmmakers since 2001. Creatives make a film in a weekend, and see it on the big screen in a local theater. With competitions in more than 100 cities around the world, teams shoot from the streets of Paris to the hills of Cape Town to glamorous apartments in New York, and everywhere in between. Filmmakers of all abilities are cultivating a passion for learning, and discovering greater success in school, work and life. All through the magic of filmmaking!
Celebrities and the 48
The 48 Hour Film Project has seen some big names in our films, including such actors as Martin Freeman, J.K Simmons, J.Lee and Dennis Farina. Our judging panels have featured: Sean Gunn, Dave Costabile, Maggie Lawson, Simon West, Bruce Beresford, Jane Seymour and Shekhar Kapur to name but a few.
Our Partnership with Cannes
We also have a longtime partnership with the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner. A selection of our best films are screened there each year! One of our films, ‘’Bio Buddy’’, from Prague was recognized as one of the best of the Short Film Corner and given a special distribution deal.
Filmmaker Launching Pad
The 48 Hour Film Project has proven to be a great stepping stone into the filmmaking industry. Many of our filmmakers have gone on to build careers, make feature films and even work on Academy Award winning films. 48HFP Alums have won the Golden Calf Award in the Netherlands and the Cesar in France and have been cast and crew on television and in Hollywood films, including working as a cinematographer on the award winning ‘’Coda’’.
Brand Partners
The 48 Hour Film Project has partnered with many brands over the years–connecting companies to our filmmakers and creating branded content. Partners have included: Hearst Communications, HP, Sam Adams Beer, New Amsterdam Vodka, Parrott, Aputure and VISA.
